It was an honor and a pleasure to be asked to plan the celebration for Goat Lady Dairy’s 20th Anniversary . The dairy is a very special place to our family and is so close to my heart. For the past 3 years my husband has been the lead cheese maker and sales director for the dairy forming many long lasting and close relationships. The story of the dairy and how it came into existence is a special one. Owner Steve Tate’s sister Genie moved to the area from Illinois in 1980 with the dream of owning a farm. She drove around the Randolph County area for countless hours searching for the perfect property. On her journey she found a little goat and took him in- she took him all over with her on the back of her truck and very soon became known as the Goat Lady by the locals. This is how GLD was born. This past September they celebrated 20 years of GLD! We were thrilled and extremely grateful to have had some of the best chef’s in the area and beyond cook something special with a cheese from the GLD line . Music was supplied by The Big Fat Gap and libations by Fullsteam and Wicked Weed breweries. A fun night was had by all! Happy birthday GLD!
