Megan and Lewis’s nuptials were a an amazing customized celebration of love, family and fun at the beautiful THE BARN OF CHAPEL HILL. Their happy, colorful day, fell on the Kentucky Derby with a timeline that hinged on the race happening half way through the cocktail hour. Mint juleps were served, festive attire encouraged and our amazingly talented friend Jenn of WILD FLORA FARM brightened up every turn with stunningly gorgeous florals.
Megan and Lewis’ goal was truly to create a very special and memorable day for themselves as well as their guests. Every detail was well thought out and had meaning to the couple and their families. The ceremony took place on the Barn’s front patio under a clear top tent- due to a little threat of rain that afternoon. Jenn created an amazing floral wall to serve as the backdrop to the ceremony. Megan and Lewis both bought children to their marriage and included them in the ceremony along with their best friends. Lewis walked down the aisles first with the idea to greet them all with a hug as they made it down the aisles. Each of them had their own song selected by the couple to walk down the aisles to, it was such a special, meaningful touch! The couple wrote their own vows and a close friend served as the officiant!
Megan and Lewis were the first cocktail hour which took place on the lit up side lawn and veranda area of the barn! Light blush linens covered tall cocktail tables and a beautiful lounge from Cottage luxe create a cozy area for guests to enjoy! The wedding was on Kentucky Derby day and the whole timeline hinged on the race happening halfway through the Cocktail Hour. We had TVs brought in for everyone to watch. They encouraged their guests to wear hats and fun derby themed outfits.Fresh mint from a friends garden was used in the delicious mint juleps served.
The cocktail hour transitioned to a Southern Style meal served in the Barn. The Barn looked elegant, colorful and magical! The florals were beyond gorgeous and included organic, garden style lush and low pieces and a breathtaking hanging piece above the family table. The place setting consisted of a blush dinner plate to coordinate with all the beautiful blooms as well as elegant brushed gold flatware.
The couple were introduced into the room and did a family dance with all their kids, parents and grandparents to” we are family” by sister sledge. Dinner was followed by heartfelt toasts by friends and a cheers with the best man with a special bottle of Hennessy they purchased together after serving in Iraq. A lively dance party commenced after the cake/cupcake cutting! A special day for an special couple and family! Thank you Megan and Lewis for including our team!
